Poetry Contest Winners!

I am so excited to share the winners of my poetry contest with you! This contest was open to those subscribed to my email list, if you aren't already please subscribe here so you don't miss out on opportunities like this and other exciting and exclusive content!
I had so much fun reading everyone's submissions and am thrilled to present the three winners! Each of these poems was beautiful and reflected ideas I love! Each writer wrote about the simple yet complex things of everyday life. You'd better watch out for each of these poets, because I believe they each have amazing things to come in the future ;)
I Want To Be a Child  by E.G. Runyan

I want to be a child
For as long as I can be.
I don’t want to grow up
And have changes come to me.

I want to be a child, see
Under my parents care
I do not want to face the world
And be alone out there.

I want to be a child
Listening to others’ advice
And not make the decisions
Not have to always roll the dice.

I want to be a child
With the innocence of youth
But now that I am older
I have to stand and face the truth.

I want to be a child
For as long as I can be.
I don’t want to have to grow up
And have changes come to me.

I grow older every day
There is no way to stop it
But God’s child I will always be
That role I’ll always fit.

Afternoon Musings by Reece Turner

I’m on the porch,
It’s a lovely day.
A cool bottle Of Coke,
And sunshine
On my face.
It’s great,
I haven’t felt
This way in Months.

Talking to an
Old friend,
Making a
New one.
The birds
Are singing,
Just a bit
Off-key.
It’s perfect.
Don’t you think?

The pages of a
New story
Are flipping
Through my mind.
The sky is
So blue,
It reminds
Me of the deep
And daunting ocean.
And of places I once
Called my
Home.

The wind
Blows free,
Reminding me
Of memories.
White t-shirts and
Those Converse that I wore six
Years ago.
As I picked
Every flower I could find;
My arms soon
Filled with
Tangible sunshine.

Another sip
Another sigh,
It’s 2:30 and
I’m fine
Just being alone.
Sometimes I
Really enjoy
Being alone.
When I’m
Not hiding
From the bees or
Tripping over air,
It’s nice out here.
Just me and myself,
Nobody else.
The Violet by Elle West

A simple dress of palest green,
A simple shawl of wisterian hue,
A small orange face in hiding
Behind the purple's true.

A royal throne of green
A fan shaped throne indeed
Maidservants round with faces bright
Though streaks of white they bleed.

The queen stands tall amidst the rest,
Her face turned towards the sun;
While the carpeted floor of green
Is softly tread upon.

"Such beauty in her face
Such elegance in her stance
Such plentitude of grace,
Such is our noble queen!"

She stands alone,
But you say, "Who? Who?"
I'll tell you sir or ma'am,
The violet queen, tis true.
