English Garden Lemonade Recipe

It's finally starting to get warm here in the Northeastern United States. After an April snowstorm and lots of rain, it's beginning to feel like spring.

When it gets warm, I always start craving cold drinks, so I decided to invent myself a signature drink - that just happens to be this lemonade!
Picture
I call this lemonade English Garden Lemonade, because it brings to mind rolling countryside and afternoon tea. But for those of you who are less romantic, it is simply a Lavender Earl Grey Lemonade. No it's not an Arnold Palmer - stop right there. It's a tea infused lemonade. There's a difference (please don't ask me to clarify what the difference is.)
What You Need
Picture
Earl Grey Tea -
Earl Grey is a traditional English black tea flavored with bergamot (an Italian citrus fruit). For this recipe you will need one bag, perhaps two if your tea is weak.
Picture
Lavender -
I am the strange kind of person who has a huge bag of culinary lavender in my pantry, but I know not everyone does. It's not hard to find, you can buy large bags on amazon, and many grocery stores have small jars of it. You can also use lavender tea (Harney and Sons makes a loose leaf lavender tea that is just lavender flowers), but don't use a tea that has chamomile in it, that might not taste good.

Another option is to buy an already bagged lavender earl grey tea and just use that in this recipe. Lavender earl greys are pretty common.

If you don't like lavender, you can use rose petals instead, or just omit using flowers all together, but trust me, this drink will not be as fun.

Lemonade -
In this recipe I use lemonade powder, but you could replace that with pre-made lemonade, or homemade lemonade. Just depends on your preference or what you have around.
Picture
Serving -
This recipe makes 2-4 servings (depending on the cups you serve it in), you don't have to use tea cups, but if you have them, why not use them?

Ingredients -
1 Earl Grey Tea Bag
1tsp culinary grade lavender flowers
3 cups of water
2 ½ tablespoons lemonade powder
Fresh lemon slices (optional)
Ice

Step 1:
Boil 1 and ½ cups of water, add to the water your tea bag, and lavender in a tea strainer ball. Let steep for 10 minutes.

Step 2:
Remove tea and lavender and allow the tea to chill in the fridge until ready to make lemonade.

Step 3:
Once the tea mixture has been chilled, pour into serving vessel (ie. pitcher, tea pot etc.) Add in the second cup and a half of water.

Step 4:
Add in the lemonade powder, mixing until combined. Taste for sweetness and adjust accordingly (adding more lemonade powder if not sweet enough, and more water if too sweet.)

Step 5:
Add ice and serve with lemon slices (optional).

Enjoy!

Let me know what you think, did you make this? Are you planning to? What are some of your favorite spring beverages? What should I make next?
