Hi friends! I am so excited for this post! My long-time writing friend Molly and I decided to swap Fall book recommendations! Molly runs an amazing blog, a fun YouTube channel, an Etsy shop, and self-published her poetry book Poetic Surrender. I would love it if you would go over and subscribe to her blog, YouTube, support her small business, and buy her book. Now without further ado, let's get to her book recommendations! The Sower by Scott James This first one is actually a picture book, but it was absolutely beautiful. I think it would make a wonderful read-aloud by the fire, and the illustrations were so unique and breathtaking. It is about the creation of the world, and can be read in a matter of minutes. But you'll be thinking about it long after that. Fawkes by Nadine Brandes How can I not mention this novel? As Guy Fawkes day is November 5th, I re-read it every November and highly, highly recommend you try it this year. The book is about the famous gunpowder plot, but takes a creative and faith-based twist to it. I will mention that there is some violence and magic (though used in an allegorical way), so that is something to be aware of. The Night Gardener by Jonathan Auxier This is a book that actually partially takes place in the fall, and is a good story if you're in the mood for something a little creepier before bed. I must admit that it's been a while since I last read this, but it raised some important questions and while it did have some creepier aspects, nothing was too scary. A Slip of a Girl by Patricia Reilly Giff This is actually a novel in verse, which is one of my favorite book formats. It's about the Irish Land Wars, and a little girl growing up through it all. The novel is short, sweet, and has real old photographs throughout the whole thing which made it so much more realistic. The Illustrated Edgar Allan Poe by Ryan C. Van Cleave This collection of poetry is perfect for a book to read a little from every day. With both Poe's famous poems and some that I hadn't heard before, something is sure to stand out. I must admit that I didn't love the darker tone he used for many of them, but I do suggest reading at least part of "The Raven" this fall. I hope you enjoyed Molly's book recs! If you want to see what I recommend for fall, be sure to check out my post over on her blog! Molly McTernanMolly is an author who writes with one desire: to glorify the Creator.
