7/31/2024 3 Comments Strawberry Sparkler (Recipe)This summer I’ve been very into diy-ing my own fun cafe style drinks. This one is for the people who don’t like caffeine (although I am including an option that has matcha in it), or who like a fruity option. It’s a bit like an Italian soda without any dairy, it’s super easy and can be made in minutes. What You’ll Need Strawberry Syrup - I use Hersheys because it’s what I have on hand, but you could use a drink syrup, or a homemade simple syrup. Strawberries - Whenever I make fruit drinks I like to include some pieces of that fruit in the drink. This is completely optional but the strawberries make the drink more aesthetic and the berries themselves get carbonated from the drink which is fun. Strawberry Sparkling Water - For this recipe I use a standard size can of Polar’s Stawberry Lemonade seltzer, but you can use any flavor of sparkling water that you like. Know that it will add flavor to your drink so choose wisely. Lemon Juice - This is to add a little nuance in flavor. It isn’t necessary, but if you have it on hand add it! Matcha (optional) - If you want your drink caffeinated, add in some matcha! Matcha (in case your;e wondering) is the ground green leaves of the tea plant. It's a stronger green tea with a rich, vegetal flavor. Make sure your Matcha is at least culinary grade, though ceremonial is best. Here's What You'll Need for One Serving Strawberry Soda - 1 Tablespoon strawberry syrup (or to taste) 1 strawberry, sliced Ice 1 can strawberry sparkling water (or flavor of choice) 1 tsp lemon juice Strawberry Matcha Soda ¼ cup hot water 1tsp matcha powder 1 recipe Strawberry Soda How To Make It Step 1. Place your strawberry syrup and sliced strawberries at the bottom of your glass. Step 2. Fill your glass about two thirds of the way with ice. Step 3. Pour in your can of sparkling water slowly, letting the bubbles recede, you should be able to use the whole can. Mix well. (ignore my spillage in the photo.) Step 4. Add in the lemon juice and mix again. For the Matcha variation: Before making the soda, sift your matcha powder into a small bowl. Pour the warm water onto it and whisk with a matcha whisk until well combined and small bubbles form on the surface. Pour the warm water onto it and whisk with a matcha whisk until well combined and small bubbles form on the surface. Make the strawberry soda according to the above instructions. Pour the matcha shot on top. What do you think? Are you planning on trying this recipe yourself? Belle ThomasBelle is the writer and dreamer behind An Old Fashioned Girl.
