10/23/2024 7 Comments The My Life In Books TagHi friends! A few weeks ago, my blogging friend Karis Anne tagged me in the My life in books book tag. If you are unfamiliar, book tags are lists of bookish questions that content creators will answer, then “tag” another creator to answer as well. It’s a fun way to share book recommendations and to interact with other members of the book community :). That being said, I’m so excited to share my answers, and I hope that you’ll get to know me better, or will find some book recs through it. Find a book for each of your initials: For B I’m going to have to go with Betsy-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace. As you probably know, I adore this vintage coming of age series. I don't need to elaborate. For T, I’ll kindly avoid any books that start with “the”. My pick for T is Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. I had heard so many great things about this book, and went in highly skeptical. But it’s such a beautiful story about children’s resilience and understanding, as well as painting a beautiful and painful picture of an often forgotten time in history. Count your age along your bookshelf: what book is it? Do I count from the top of the bottom? Since there is no one here to clarify, I’ll go from the top since I like the selection better haha. I landed on Emma by Jane Austen (specifically the Puffin in Bloom edition). I really love this novel. It’s about Emma Woodhouse, a single woman who loves matchmaking, the book follows all of her many failures in romance. It’s funny, thought provoking, and maybe Austen’s most complex and well developed novel. Pick a book set in your city or country: I’m going to amend this to be your region… The book I’ve chosen is a wonderful part of American culture, and is one of the best portrayals of New England. That book is of couse the classic Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (are you surprised?) Pick a book that represents a destination you would love to travel to: This is such a fun question! I’d have to be incredibly basic and say any book by L.M. Montgomery. I so want to visit Prince Edward Island Canada and experience the landscape she describes so well in real life. Pick a book that is your favorite color: My favorite color is sky blue, and consequently I have many books on my shelf that are that color. One that I love very much is this UK edition of Winnie The Pooh. Pick a book that you have fond memories of: There are so many ahh, it’s hard to choose! I think I’ll go with Dust by Kara Swanson. I listened to the audio book of this a few years ago and remember sitting outside in November watching the sun slowly set and the stars come out while listening to the whimsical Peter Pan retelling. I wish I could go back to that moment, it was so peaceful (even though the book isn’t). Pick a book that you had (or are currently having) difficulty reading: Believe it or not, there are many. One that I had the hardest time with was The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens. I had such high hopes because it plays an important part in Little Women and is mentioned in Anne of The Island. But I just couldn’t get through it. It’s told very anecdotally and there were lots of last names and brawls and such. I was so lost. Pick a book on your TBR pile that will give you a huge sense of accomplishment once finished: I’ve been pretty good about not letting the big books on my TBR overwhelm me or pile up. That being said, I started Uncle Tom’s Cabin years and years ago, and it’s been silently staring at me from my shelf ever since I bought it and read a few pages of it. I will feel very accomplished once I read that one that's for sure! Tag Some Bloggers I feel like most of my blogging friends have already been tagged! No pressure to do it!
